Behm fails to qualify for match play at U.S. Amateur Public Links Behm shot a 6-over par 77 in Monday's first round of stroke play on the par 71 course. In Tuesday's second round of stroke play, Behm shot even-par through the front nine and put himself in good position to make a run for one of the final 64 qualifying match play spots. After birdying the first hole on the back nine, Behm suffered a setback by bogeying three straight holes (12-14). He shot a 3-over par 74 for a 36-hole total of 151. The two-time NAC Player of the Year finished in 104th place in the 156-player field, which consisted mainly of NCAA Division I players. Behm was one of 106 players in the 156-player field to competed in their first-ever U.S. APL Championship. "It is a huge honor to be part of the four percent of the players who qualify for this championship," Behm says. "It showed me that I am only a few steps from being included in the top tier of golfers in country." Aaron Goldberg of Carlsbad, Calif., claimed medalist honors after finishing the two rounds of stroke play at 10-under par. He shot a 4-under-par 67 on day two for a 36-hole total of 132. The low 64 scorers advance to match play Wednesday through Saturday. The 36-hole championship final is scheduled for Saturday, with the winner receiving an invitation to play in the 2009 Masters Tournament.
