AU adds to football staff
AURORA, Ill. -- The 2008 football season will have a new look for the Aurora University Spartans as Rich Duncan announced the hiring of two new members to the Spartan coaching staff. Matt Kalb and Brandon Sturman will join the AU staff for the upcoming 2008 season.

Kalb will take over the responsibilities of offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach while Sturman will join the defensive side of the ball and assume the duties of coaching the linebackers.

Kalb comes to AU after having spent the previous eight seasons at Loras College , including the last two as the Duhawks offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. Kalb was a wide receiver collegiately at the University of Alabama and University of Kentucky , having played two seasons at each institution.

Sturman joins the Spartan staff after spending the last two years as a graduate assistant at his alma mater, Valparaiso University . As a student-athlete at Valparaiso , Sturman was a two-time captain and two-year starting middle linebacker for the Crusaders.

Additionally, current AU Assistant Coach Luke Cutcomp was promoted by Duncan and will serve as the Spartans defensive coordinator and defensive line coach.

AU opens the 2008 campaign on Saturday, September 6, 2008, when they travel to Lake Forest College at 1:00 p.m. in Lake Forest , IL . The Spartans’ first home contest is scheduled for Saturday, September 20, 2008, when they host Illinois Wesleyan University . The home opener will also mark the first game on the new AU Field.
