Spartan selected Preseason All-American
AURORA, Ill. -- Aurora University Spartan football senior defensive lineman Marcus Goedken was selected to the 2008 Consensus Draft Services (CDS) Preseason All-America Team.

A Second-Team defense selection by CDS, Goedken was named to the D3football.com NCAA Division III All-Region Football Team, following his performance in the 2007 season. A Third-Team All-Region defensive selection as a junior, Goedken (Sugar Grove, IL/Kaneland H.S.), had a stellar season which included being named Illini-Badger Football Conference (IBFC) First-Team All-Conference and D3Football.com Third-Team All-North Region.

For the year, Goedken had 62 tackles, 15-1/2 tackles for loss, five and one-half quarterback sacks and two forced fumbles. On his career, he has 141 tackles, 29 tackles for loss, 11 quarterback sacks, four forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries.

AU opens the 2008 campaign on Saturday, September 6, 2008, when they travel to Lake Forest College at 1:00 p.m. in Lake Forest, IL. The Spartans’ first home contest is scheduled for Saturday, September 20, 2008, when they host Illinois Wesleyan University. The home opener will also mark the first game on the new AU Field.
