Wolferstetter resigns after seven seasons In addition to her responsibilities on the court, Wolferstetter served as the Senior Woman Administrator as well as the advisor for the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). "Our SAAC has been phenomenal in my years here. We've made a huge impact on our campus and our community," said Wolferstetter. In her time as SAAC advisor, Alverno's student-athletes have been extremely active in the Milwaukee area. The group has volunteered with Special Olympics, Toy Chest, Hunger Task Force, and Goodwill Industries; they also participated in numerous charity walks, food drives and highway clean-ups. Wolferstetter also secured a NCAA grant that focused on wellness for the Alverno campus. SAAC focused on educating the campus in areas of alcohol consumption, nutrition, physical wellness and the effects of smoking. She extended her presence campus-wide. As a member of the college's wellness committee, Wolferstetter was one of the driving forces behind Alverno College becoming tobacco free. The first American Cancer Society Relay for Life was chaired by Wolferstetter. The relay was a tremendous success with over $55,000 being raised. "The student-athletes at Alverno College have all been impacted so positively by Kay. She not only pushed them to be the best athletes they could be, but students and community members as well," said Brad Duckworth, Director of Athletics. "Kay's contributions to the college are numerous and will continue to impact us for a long time to come." Courtesy of Alverno College, Sports Information Department, June 20, 2008. |
