Spartan baseball players named All-Region
AURORA, Ill. -- The Aurora University Spartan men's baseball team had two players represented on the 2008 NCAA Division III All-Central Region team.

AU had two Second-Team All-Central Region honorees in junior shortstop Josh Damore (Grayslake, IL/Grayslake H.S.) and sophomore outfielder Tony Wellner (Minooka, IL/Minooka H.S.).

Damore finished the 2008 season hitting .381 with 51 runs scored, 11 doubles, seven home runs, 33 runs batted in, a .600 slugging percentage, a .455 on-base percentage, 17 base on balls and 13 stolen bases.

Wellner finished the 2008 season with a .365 average, a single season AU record 23 doubles, five home runs, 38 runs batted in, 34 runs scored, a .609 slugging percentage, a .410 on-base percentage and five outfield assists. Wellner was a 2008 Northern Athletics Conference Honorable Mention selection.

AU finished the season with a 25-15 record and was 15-7 in the Northern Athletics Conference baseball season.
