Benedictine's Porcaro named All-Region 1st team
LISLE, Ill. -- Benedictine University designated hitter Rick Porcaro (Tinley Park, Ill./St. Rita H.S.) has been named to the first team 2008 ABCA/Rawlings All-Central Region baseball team for NCAA Division III. Porcaro, as a first team all-region selection, is now eligible for consideration for the NCAA Division III All-America team.

Porcaro, a junior, had a career season in 2008, leading Benedictine to a share of the Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) championship (the school's first conference championship since 2004). Porcaro led the team in virtually every offensive category, including batting average (.424), at-bats (158), runs (35), hits (67), doubles (15), RBI (39), slugging percentage (.633) and on-base average (.478).

Porcaro - who was also named first team All-NAC - was second on the Eagles' team with six homeruns. He also drew 14 walks and was hit by a pitch four times.

Porcaro also had 19 multi-hit games, including going 5-for-6 with six RBI versus Concordia University (Wis.) on April 22. He hit safely in 36 of the team's 43 contests, and had 10 games with multiple RBI, as well.
