Benedictine's Cappetto adds
all-region honor
LISLE,
Ill. --
Benedictine University freshman firstbaseman
Cassie Cappetto (Oak Lawn, Ill./Marist H.S.) has added another honor
to her already burgeoning list of accolades for her first collegiate
season. Cappetto was named to the Second Team All-Great Lakes Region
by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.
The all-region honor came just one day after Cappetto was named
First Team All-Northern Athletics Conference (NAC), selected to the
NAC's All-Rookie Team and named the league's "Rookie of the Year."
In 2008, Cappetto hit .459 with 62 hits and 41 RBI, with all three
totals ranking as the third-best among NAC players. She also led the
circuit in doubles (15), while belting three triples and four
homeruns on her way to a team-leading .704 slugging percentage and
an on-base average of .507.
Cappetto was also a top defensive player with a .991 fielding
percentage in 329 total chances.
