All-Northern Athletics Conference Softball Team announced
WAUKESHA, Wis. -- The Northern Athletics Conference has released its softball All-Conference awards for the 2008 season. All awards were voted on by the head coaches of the NAC.

Coach of the Year honors went to Aurora University's Mike McKenzie for the second consecutive year. McKenzie's Spartans won both the Northern Athletics Conference regular season and tournament championships for the second straight season. AU finished 23-1 in conference play and 36-5 overall, earning an at-large berth to the 2008 NCAA Division III Championship Tournament.

Also for the second consecutive year, Aurora University's Dana Cebular (Brookfield, Ill.) was named the Northern Athletics Conference Player of the Year. The senior third baseman won the conference batting title with a .533 average, recording 72 hits in 41 games. She also lead the NAC in runs scored (53), home runs (10) and total bases (117). Her on base percentage (.595) and slugging percentage (.867) were also tops in the conference.

Spartan teammate Anna Snyder (Grayslake, Ill.) was named NAC Pitcher of the Year. The sophomore right-hander had the best ERA in the conference with a 1.08 mark. She compiled a 21-3 record from the circle this season and also had 4 saves. Her 21 wins and 4 saves were both conference bests. Snyder's 10.91 strikeouts per game also led the NAC, and was second in shutouts with five.

Benedictine University's Cassie Cappetto (Oak Lawn, Ill.) was honored as Northern Athletics Conference Rookie of the Year. The freshman first baseman batted .459 with 62 hits and 41 RBI, all three were third best in the conference. The rookie also led the NAC in doubles with 15 for the second place Eagles (26-14, 19-5 NAC).
