2008 NCAA Softball Championship

Spartan Softball NCAA Tournament bound
AURORA, Ill. -- The NCAA Division III softball tournament selection committee announced the seedings for the 2008 NCAA Division III Championships. The Spartans of Aurora University will travel to the Eau Claire Regional hosted by University of Wisconsin Eau Claire in Eau Claire, WI.

Making their third appearance in four years to the NCAA tournament, the Spartans are the No. 7 seed in the eight-team region and will receive take on the University of Wisconsin - Oshkosh on Thursday, May 8, 2008, at 4:00 p.m.

The teams that will participate in the UW Eau-Claire Regional are as follows:

  • #1 St. Thomas (MN) (40-3) vs. Ripon College (WI) (20-12
  • #2 Univ. of WI-Oshkosh (27-8) vs. #7 Aurora University (35-6)
  • #3 North Central College (29-11) vs. #6 Univ. of WI-Eau Claire (28-11)
  • #4 Simpson College (IA) (28-10) vs. #5 Illinois Wesleyan Univ. (29-9)

The Spartans earned their place in the 2008 NCAA Division III Championships by receiving an NCAA Pool B bid after having won the 2008 Northern Athletics Conference regular season and tournament championship. AU captured the regular season conference title for the fifth consecutive season, 2008 and 2007 coming in the NAC and 2006, 2005 and 2004 in the former Northern Illinois-Iowa Conference.
