Curtis garners two All-America honors for 2007-08 to close out career
LISLE, Ill. -- Benedictine University senior center Tamika Curtis (Bellwood, Ill./Nazareth Academy) brought down the curtain on what was arguably the greatest career in Benedictine University women's basketball history by earning recognition on two different All-America teams for the 2007-08 season. Curtis was named honorable mention All-America for NCAA Division III by both the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) and D3Hoops.com.

It was Curtis' second-consecutive WBCA All-America honorable mention from the WBCA. She was also named first-team all-region by both organizations to qualify her for All-America consideration.

Curtis finished the 2007-08 season with career-year numbers across the board for the Eagles. The 6'0" center averaged 19.4 points and 11.3 rebounds per game, all the while shooting 59.1 percent from the field. She also averaged 2.3 blocks, 1.6 assists and 1.4 steals per game in leading her team to a second-consecutive appearance in the Northern Athletics Conference (NAC) post-season tournament.

On the year, Curtis rolled up 14 "double-doubles" and tallied in double-figure scoring in 25 of 26 contests. She had a career-high 39 point game this season versus North Central College on November 27.

Curtis was named to the D3Hoops.com national "Team of the Week" three times this past season. Likewise, she was named as the NAC's "Student-Athlete of the Week" three times. She was also an all-tournament selection at the prestigious Trinity (Tex.) University Tournament.

Curtis ranked among the NCAA Division III leaders in several categories, including: Scoring, rebounds, blocks and field goal percentage. In the final 2007-08 NAC regular season statistics, she ranked among the Conference leaders in scoring (2nd), rebounds (1st), blocks (1st), field goal percentage (2nd) and free throw percentage (17th).

Curtis finished an illustrious career with her fourth, first-team all-conference selection in as many seasons on the court. She is Benedictine's all-time leader in scoring (1,887 points), blocked shots (208) and field goal percentage (54.7%). She was also second on the all-time rebounding list (1,124). In her 106 game career, Curtis posted 54 double-doubles and scored in double digits in 99 games (with 39 games of 20-plus points and eight 30-point games).
