MSOE faculty member Wentz to
follow Canedo as head tennis coach “Coach Canedo did an excellent job here, but I know with coach Wentz taking the head coaching position, we will have a smooth transition for the program,” said Harris. “With Blake (Wentz) being a former collegiate player and an MSOE faculty member, he brings both tennis experience and an on-campus presence to the program. As an assistant coach, Wentz has been extremely involved in the recruiting process the past two years and has been very effective for both MSOE programs.” Under Canedo, Wentz served as assistant coach for the past two seasons. As a collegiate player, Wentz played at the University of Nebraska, primarily, doubles. While a tennis coach in Lincoln Neb., Wentz trained several regionally and nationally ranked players. Since moving to Wisconsin, he continues to coach regionally and nationally ranked juniors. After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in finance, he ran his family’s mechanical contracting business, Wentz Plumbing and Heating in Lincoln, Nebraska. Wentz finished his master’s of engineering in construction management from the University of Nebraska in 2004, specializing in construction project management, sustainable construction systems, mechanical systems and construction scheduling. In 2005, he received accreditation for the American institute of Constructors (AIC) level I Associate Constructor. Wentz, an assistant professor at MSOE, is currently pursuing his doctoral degree.
