Coach Kristyn King attempts to hit the Rockford Thunder’s ace
ROCKFORD, Ill. -- The Rockford Register Star recently announced that newly signed Rockford Thunder ace and former softball Olympian Cat Osterman will square up against five local “celebrities” in a promotional contest on Monday, May 28, 2007. One of Osterman’s opponents is Rockford College’s own Kristyn King. King will round out five Rockford area hitters who attempt to make the most contacts from 10 of the Osterman’s pitches. Fans are encouraged to visit http://e-rockford.com/test/poll/poll2.php to vote for who they feel will be the most successful. One voter from the area will be selected to receive 4 tickets to the Thunder’s June 1 match-up against fellow Olympian Jennie Finch and the Chicago Bandits.

King, the Regent’s head softball coach and current associate athletics director at Rockford College, will compete against Mike DeDoncker and Anna Voelker from the Register Star, Eric Wilson from WREX-13 and Brandon Wogomon from the Rock River Raptors indoor football team. The Boylan graduate King, who just completed her 15th year at the helm, led the Regents’ softball team to a school best 28 wins in 2006.
