Dr. G. Steven Larson, commissioner of the Northern Athletics
Conference, announced the new service initiative that is being
undertaken by its member institutions. "The members of the Northern
Athletics Conference Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC)
wanted to do something together as a conference that would help in
their respective communities. As a result, the NAC SAAC is
initiating 'Cans Across the Conference' this year.
"SAAC is organizing the canned food drive as a community service
project amongst the twelve institutions in the NAC. Each campus SAAC
will be collecting cans and other non-perishable items at their
school from September 29 through November 17 to benefit a local
organization.
"This is an outstanding project that SAAC and all of the NAC
student-athletes are undertaking. It will benefit many people."
